At last the others stopped talking gibberish to the giants and we could continue. We went down the corridor we had gone the day before. There was still the strange effect making everything seem very far away. I went a little ahead and peeked into the room with the cauldron. There I saw something that looked just like the golem Velicia had described earlier. I told the others and we stormed out into the room and attacked it. Suddenly I got a bad feeling and noted something stirring in the wall behind me. I reacted immediately and threw my dagger straight into the enormous thing emerging. It was a lot bigger than a giant and looked strange in an unnatural way. It reminded me more of the machines I'd seen than any living creature. The dagger was aimed at what would have been the throat of a living being and struck the thing very deep in a joint, leaving a leaking gap. As it returned to my hand I threw it again, hitting it again, and retreated to behind Nathaniel. It was clearly very damaged by my dagger and disappeared back into the wall. Nathaniel quickly dispatched of the golem and Velicia went up to the wall to listen after the big thing, as did Nathaniel. Hesitantly I joined them and could rather feel it, than actually hear it, moving deep into the rock. | At last the others stopped talking gibberish to the giants and we could continue. After a short rest we continued on through a set of double doors. Inside we had a glimpse of a big room with pillars and a balcony in the far end before a magical fog filled our view. Waking up the next day I felt a lot better. Honeypots magic and the healing properties of her retreat had healed me completely even though I had been close to death just the day before. Now I was only a little stiff. Using her new face stealing ring, Honeypot, standing next to one of the defeated rune-giants, assumed both it's appearance and size. Honeypot cast the telepathy ritual and Velicia remarked that it wouldn't work through the portal. Honeypot replyed that it didn't matter as it worked from her wood all the way to the Storval mountains. We gathered around the portal and with help from weired fey creatures Velicia opened the gate. Just before it opened we all retreated to be out of sight as the Honeypot-giant stepped through. She told us she was met by six giants on the other end, and they spoke a lot. After a while, just before the portal was about to close we all hurried through. No fighting they told me. I had no idea what they talked about, but from the short translations Nathaniel gave me apparently Velicia lied overwhelmingly. They said something about us not killing any good giants. I agreed in regretting killing giants with the sihedron rune as I knew that somehow gave that runeguy Karzohg power and I really didn't want that, but I didn't do so well in that regard back in Sandpoint. Anyway they talked something about a library too. Not that I care about those, unless of course, they want to buy a copy of my diary. They also talked about Mokmurian having a pact with some strange creature that Velicia called a stone golem and then described into boring details. I told them to tell Conna, as the female leader of the stone giants was called, that she needed to get rid of those tattooed stars or that their souls would be lost when they die.
I told everybody we had to hurry as someone could have heard the fight. We reached another room with a large corridor and a smaller one to the right of the other. I decided that we should continue along the big one. It led into another corridor that was even bigger and had rounded corners. There were several doors in it. Velicia headed for a pair of brass double doors with reflective silver inlay and a sihedron rune, like the door keeping the demon in at Thistletop. Velicia looked at door for ages. I went back along the corridor to another set of double doors, made out of stone. They were very heavy. Nathaniel arrived and said "Those look heavy. Do you need any help?" Together we opened them only to find another set just inside. I wrote "Nell was here!" with my purple eternal chalk, and then closed the outer doors and continued down the corridor. I said I was keeping to the right as Nathaniel had told us to, not counting the small corridors I ignored earlier and some shut doors, but otherwise we had kept following the right. Nathaniel is very good at dungeneering.
Finally Velicia gave up on the double doors and we could silently slip into next room. It had no sharp angles only rounded corners. The wall to the left had scorch marks all over. I was about to ask the others if we should use the ritual protecting from fire as we were attacked. IT was ugly dog like creatures that appeared from nowhere and attacked. As soon as they had bit us they disappeared again. After some fighting we killed them, but their bodies still disappeared. Velicia said that they were Hounds of Tindalos and that they hadn't been killed, but just driven away.
After a short rest we continued on through a set of double doors. Inside we had a glimpse of a big room with pillars and a balcony in the far end before a magical fog filled our view. It was awful and I didn't want to go into it when Honeypot suddenly rushed us all into it. It didn't hurt, but was very hard to move in and I couldn't see a thing. Luckily I have a good memory and with the help of my magical shoes I quickly got out of it and somersaulting over the floor I threw my dagger deep into the smallish giant standing up on the balcony. The rune covered giant staggered from the deep wound and I continued up to the base of the stairs leading up to the balcony and hid.
Suddenly Mokmurians body moved. I knew it was dead and still it moved. Almost without thinking I had drawn my dagger and held it ready to throw, but hesitated. The body didn't look threatening, but limp and weak. Then it spoke.
"My name is Karzoug." I recognized the voice from the old magic message in Thistletop. It continued on about how us killing his minions only increased his power and something about his place called Xin-Shalast. I got bored before he was finished and then the body fell down again.
Before we left I asked Nathaniel to help me write "Mokmurian is dead" and "The seven pointed stars steal you souls" on the wall in giantish. Velicia protested that there were some runes on the wall, but who cares? She tried to stop me by saying it would lessen their value. Even if I hadn't known she was bluffing I wouldn't have cared about some random wall in a far away place. She really needs to learn how to trick people before she tries. I should know.
