First, an important definition. In Dragonstar Feng Shui, sorcery is what it is in T3 - the use of the Sorcery skill, generally involving sorcery schticks. This includes all spellcasters from DnD. The thing that sorcerers in DnD do is called DragonMagic.
As outlined in T3, all users or sorcery must belong to a MagicTradition. Magic traditions roughly correspond to DnD spellcaster classes. In DnD, when you shift to a new spellcaster class, your magical development starts over from scratch. This is very rarely done. In Dragonstar Feng Shui, each magic tradition has its own version of the Sorcery skill. So, if you want to master two magic traditions, you have to purchase the sorcery skill twice, and you have to decide for each sorcery schtick which traditions it belongs to - perhaps going so far as to purchase the same schtick twice for different traditions. Just like in DnD, mixing traditions is very rare in Dragonstar Feng Shui, and not at all encouraged.
In BlueDragonBlues, there are three main branches of sorcery - Arcane Magic, Divine Magic and Psionics. They are functionally similar, but use different mechanisms and power origins. It can be argued that this is all semantics, that all magic is really one, but such arguments always fail in the face of practicality.
Arcane magic uses an understanding of the universe (either intuitive or learned) to manipulate primal forces.
Divine Magic channels the energies of the divine.
Psionics uses the mind to channel ambient energy in the surrounding, which lets the psycher act sort of like a god in miniature. Psionics are illegal and heavily persecuted in the empire.
