An ImperialMonk does not use sorcery in Feng Shui terms, but Fu powers. In BlueDragonBlues, Fu powers are restricted to ImperialMonks, and not at all as common as they are in other junctures. In order to use Fu powers, a character must abide by the restrictions of the ImperialMonk - even if these restrictions can be modified and reduced significantly.
There are also many fu powers that are simply not available to the Imperial Monk - and a few that are unique to the setting.
Imperial monks make good candidates for training as ImperialPsions and evenDarkZonePsions because of the affinity of the different power groups.
The limitations of the ImperialMonk uses the definitions from Sorcery.
Limitations
Manifestation: An ImperialMonk can only manifest Fu powers, and only through himself, his unarmed attacks, or through a limited set of ImperialMonk weapons. Nor do his power work in conjunction with other schticks - like gun or pulp schticks.
Obvious: While not nearly as obvious as the other types of psions, Fu powers still channel astral energies, though they do so internally. Using a power with a high Fu cost makes the release visible, however - any power costing more than half the ImperialMonks Fu rating in Fu points creates an ectoplasmic light show. Look at Tekken for inspiration on what this looks like.
Restriction: Kata. The Your magic is focused through ritualized combat moves, and you must be able to move around as if fighting in melee. An ImperialMonk cannot use any of his powers if bound or even encumbered - that is carrying a heavy load or wearing DragonArmor with a Reflex penalty.
