DragonMagic is a very specific type of magic for the DS:DragonEmpire. It is a form of sorcery that lacks the versatility normally associated with sorcery, but instead has very specific powers and spells. These are usually a little more powerful than those of regular sorcery, and are represented by Creature Power schticks.
All dragon magicians have some form of draconic heritage. Many of them have some draconic traits - reptilian eyes, horns, claw-like nails or a vestigial tail. A few have a stronger draconic bloodline and actually have the Creature Powers skill and regular Creature Power schticks beside their dragon magic.
Because of their draconic heritage, all dragon magicians are DS:DragonNobles, and form the aristocratic elite of the empire. Most nobles are dragon magicians - though far from all of them are highly accomplished. Many prefer to spend the bulk of their time in idleness, or learning some other art. Very few pursue wizardry, however, as that is considered demeaning for a nobleman.
It is rumored that certain dragon magicians do, in fact, draw their power from some other heritage, even from some monstrous taint. This rumor is viciously suppressed. However, a DragonMagic user who consistently acts in a non-noble manner and/or displays powers inappropriate for a dragon may fall under suspicion and be in very big trouble.
Rules
Dragon spell these are still spells, and still use the sorcery skill and sorcery rules. A dragon magician can still do all the generic sorcery tasks, and can spend magic points like a generic sorcerer. Unlike creature powers, they are not constantly active. It takes a 3-shot action to cast a dragon magic spell or start up a power, and shaving off shots is not allowed. Powers that are ordinarily continual now last for a fight. Setting them up to last for a scene costs a magic point.
Dragon spells are dispelled as if they were sorcery, and all the usual sorcery modifications work. They are not subject to defenses or weaknesses specific to creature powers. As a case in point, they can be affected by the Metamagic sorcery schtick, but not by Summoning sorcery effects.
Each such spell costs 5 xp to learn.
Dragon magicians can also learn a few specific sorcery schticks.
Creature flaws are not applicable to dragon magicians unless they also get some regular creature powers. Nor are you affected by powers that target supernatural creatures.
