Up to eight targets must voluntarily accept a mission relevant to a god they all worship. Characters who do not worship any gods cannot accept a quest. The quest is always a specific task and can involve taking part in the war against opposing alignment, right (or inflict) some injustice, or just an expression of ego for chaotic gods. Examples include slaying named enemies or recovering a specific treasure. As long as the target is working against this task, she gains a +2 power bonus to Will defense and gains a daily use of his patron’s divine channel ability. This is in addition to any other divine channel abilities she might already have.
If a target neglects the mission, she starts to lose healing surges. After each long rest and before she can spend any healing surges, she loses one healing surge per day he has not been working on the quest. These are restored on the first long rest after resuming the quest.
Casting the ritual again can end a quest, as will fulfilling it or if it becomes obvious that it is impossible to fulfill.
