You close your eyes and open your senses, then look down on your dowsing rod to find it pointing the way.

You use a dowsing rod or pendulum to indicate the direction to an item you seek. When the ritual finishes you learn the direction to the desired object, providing it is within range, as indicated by the arcana check.
Arcana Check Result | Range |
9 or lower | 5 |
10-19 | 10 |
20-29 | 50 |
30-39 | 250 |
40 or higher | 1000 (1 mile) |
You must have a clear image of what you seek. It can be either a specific item that a participant in the ritual has seen, or a general substance such as water or gold, in which case it detects the largest store of such material in range that was previously unknown to you. You can choose to set a maximum range not to be exceeded in order to limit the detection to a certain area.
Lead cannot be divined for, and even a thin sheet of lead blocks the divination.
