Summon Beast

You coax a spirit to take material shape and aid you.
Level: Variable Component Cost: Variable
Category: Binding Market Price: Variable
Time: 10 minutes Key Skill: Nature
Duration: Variable

You summon a nature spirit takes the shape of a creature and serves you. You can learn to summon beasts and plant creatures of the fey, natural, and shadow origin who are not undead using this ritual. You cannot summon elite, solo, or leader creatures. Minions are summoned in groups of 2d3 creatures, at the same cost as a single normal creature.

The creature(s) have the statistics of a typical creature of its type, leveled up to your level using the normal mechanism for leveling up monsters. They behave as they naturally would, and treat your companions as pack mates as best or ignoring them at worst. They obey direct orders, but making them act contrary to their nature requires a lot of attention. Instructing the creature or group of minions to take a standard or move action is a minor action for you; it will take minor actions on its own and move actions to stay within 2 squares of you unless ordered otherwise. It always acts on your initiative.

The duration of the service depends on the result of the Nature check, and there is a penalty to this check equal to half the level of the creature. There is a limit on time and also a limit on the number of fights the creature will participate in; after the duration is up, the requisite number of fights have occurred, or the creature is reduced to zero hit points or below, it disappears.

Nature Check Result Duration of Service
9 or lower 1 hour (1 fight)
10-19 2 hours (1 fight)
20-29 4 hours (2 fights)
30-39 8 hours (3 fights)
40 or higher 24 hours (4 fights)
