This article is imported from the Hastur wiki. See the import log for details.

These rules are intended to replace the basic armour rules in the WFRP2 rulebook.

Characters are assumed to wear a single armour type. The amount of body covered affects armour rating. Characters can wear a helmet. This comes into effect when strike to stun is used. In this case, assume helmet has same number of AP as the armour.

Armour Descriptions

Breastplate

Metal plates for chest and back, possibly worn with shoulder guards or gauntlets.

Gorget

This is a metal collar which protects the neck and parts of the shoulders. Witch hunters wear them as protection against vampire fangs and officers as a badge of rank. Good or better gorgets are usually adorned with rank insignia or holy symbols.

A gorget increases the armour by +1 to a maximum of 2. In other words, it can't upgrade armour class to medium.

Greatcoat

A long leather coat, often worn by bounty hunters and other tough looking individual. The quintessential witch hunter outfit is a greatcoat with gorget (see above).

Full Chain

Chain shirt with leggings, or a full chain hauberk.

Full Plate

The pinnacle of Imperial armour design, full plate protects the entire body.

Half Plate

Heavy armour soemtimes used by elite infantry such as Imperial Greatswords and cavalry such as the Imperial Pistolier. This armour type also includes three quarter plate which covers most of the body but not the back of the legs. Cavalry armour is thicker on the front than on the back in order to protect from firearms (this has no game effect).

Leather

A simple leather jerkin (jacket) which offers some protection in a bar room brawl but is of little use on the battlefield. Still, this is the only protection some soldiers have. Good leather jerkins can be slashed and puffed, and look quite impressive.

This category also includes studded leather, i.e. leather armour augmented with metal studs, discs or rings. As with leather jerkin, good quality or better can be slashed and puffed. This offers the same protection as normal leather armour.

Mail Shirt

Good or best quality mail shirts fit well enough to be worn under normal clothing.

Armour Materials

Gromril

Gromril armour is impervious to most weapons. Normal armour cap of 5. Ignore any armour piercing abilities (talents as well as weapon qualites).

Mail

Mail is rendered obsolete by firearms, but it is still used in backward parts of the Empire, in Kislev, Norsca and by many non-human races.
