A pentinent is a criminal who has reformed and devoted himself to servince in the church. Effectively on probation, you always have a supervisor inspecting your progress and rehabilitation. Should you fail to uphold the church's strict standards of morality and ethics, you will get reprimands and eventually be turned over to the secular law authorities.

Pentinent might be former ecclasticals judged under church laws, or they might have appealed to the church to interveine in their case and been transfered into church care by local law. As the church has a better track record than most other forms of rehabilitation, this is rather common in areas where the chatolic church has influence.

Most pentinents lead quiet lives of work and worship, but a few and select ones are used by the church for their clandestine skills. Now under chatolic aegis, these former criminals are ofthen willing to go to extremes and have to be reined in and guided.

This flaw is a good way to introduce more "normal" shadowrun character into a church campaign.

This flaw is available at 5, 10, 15, and 20 points. For each point, the character has to be a penitent for one year, and the severity also indicates the crimes the character is wanted for, with an expected prison sentence of about twice the pentient service. 5 point penitents are less violent former gangers or shadowrunners , recurring thieves or single-time violent offenders. 10 points is a violent ganger or shadowrunner, repeated violent crime or a magic or net offender. 15 points Penitents were often cult members or in extremely violent mobs, convicted of manslaughter. At the 20-point level you have received the death sentence for murder.

You cannot have this flaw and a Criminal SIN.
