As time goes by our intrepid protagonists find that the mists that rise from the river begin to thicken and move in closer and suddenly a great wrenching sensation is felt by all as a massive bank of fog rolls over the village and the castle.

It seems the lion's share of the border province has been ripped away from Faërun to...somewhere else.

Living entities in caught directly in the path in the mist are transformed. Dogs turn into worgs and humans into weird mixtures of man and beast.

Soon enough, however the fogs lose their transmuting qualities and reconnaissance is ordered

Adventure Kids are sent out to try and find a path out across the mountains when it is discobvered that the mists on the river won't allow anyone or anything to pass.

Fandamm manages to defeat a worg as he prowls the village one night and he proceeds to consume it's still-warm liver in victorious glee.

This, in combination with him consuming a piece of magic-infused broccoli seems to trigger a reaction of sorts as he begins to see things normally invisible to the naked eye as well as causing his tongue to grow longer and canine.

As if this was not enough there seems to be a creature prowling the landscape. At first it is only heard from as it cries out it's name and essence: "Pig!" Apparently a local boar has been transformed into a formidable semi-upright monstrosity bent on killing all civilized beings that come in it's path.

Lothar, Fandamm and Elix set about to attempt to kill it somehow.

Meanwhile inside the castle the shadows of have come alive. Although not neccessarily hostile they seem to live lives of their own and soon Nestor and his shadow are locked in a jealous struggle regarding who serves Zárisse the best.

Lothar's shadow perishes before the light of his cloak that seems to have taken on enchanted qualities. This seems to be a sure sign that Kossuth, Lord of Fire has not abandoned his servant at least.

It is soon deduced that civilization itself seems to be a countermeasure against the encroaching surroundings but soon a veritable wall of trees surround the village and castle like so many besieging soldiers. And soon enough the howling call of "Wolf!" can be heard.

Wolf is a female creature and blessed with far greater intelligence that Pig. She confronts Zárisse and simply asks her and all her servants to surrender and die so that they stop imposing their civilized ways on the land. This is met with stern refusal.

Pig is lured into attacking and following Fandamm into the barbican of the castle where Lothar drops the portcullis upon it, finally killing the monstrosity Rancor-Style.

As the victorious protagonists gather on the parapet to onserve their defeated opponent Wolf arrives and attacks in a furious rage injuring Zárisse before Wolf withdraws under a barrage of attacks made by Nestor, Fandamm and Lothar.

Zárisse brings about her own recovery through judicious use of Vampiric Touch.

Shortly after this it is revealed that Wolf possesses the ability to speak through mirrors and afer a few guards have been enticed to sneak out into the wilds to perish, Zárisse orders all mirrors in the castle to be locked up or covered.
