In order to attract business to her Tharch, Zárisse declares Laissez-Faire capitalism to be the economic order of the province. Soon enough three merchant houses establish themselves, informed in advance of the opportunities presented by the industrious Darya and competition sets in.

Zárisse eventually comes to the conclusion that some sort of political representation is necessary. She considers a skeleton of a dragon in a public place to be a properly boastful icon for her new domain and Lothar is sent to the local red dragoness in order to get some hints. The mighty being takes offence however and after telling the necromantrix to watch her tongue and what damnfool ideas she gets the dragoness takes off.

Lothar and Sinead goes about the business of restoring the temple to Kossuth and in the process Sioban seduces Lothar. The latter offers no resistance.

Darya is busy, scouring the surrounding lands for places useful for mining and other profitable activities.

Undeterred, Zárisse sends forth Adventure Kids to find a suitable dragon to slay for the coming monument.

As time passes a band of Red Wizards arrive and sets up shop in the small, but growing village near the fortress. They introduce themselves brusquely with official documents and sets about the tast of expanding the weather controlling magics to encompass the newly invested Tharch.

Severely annoyed by this breach of relative solitude Zárisse is further infuriated when an undead Knight in the service of her Benefactor shows up and and delivers the information that half a dozen Red Wizards-to-be have been assigned to her for their final training. Outraged, Zárisse must accept but decided that the same methods used for economy in her Tharch shall be put to use on the coming students. Social Darwinism will hopefully ensure that the most skilled students graduate and leave.

Eventually Adventure Kids return and reports that they have found a Copper Dragon living just across the border to Rashemen.

Once Darya returns, Zárisse intends to send her retainers on a dragon hunt in enemy lands...
