Fertility


These effects all depend on the core ability to measure and modify the flow of chi in the natural environment. The normal difficulty of these effects is the Magic or Fortune attribute of the target.

A Backlash with any Fertility effect decreases the sorcerer's Constitution rating by 1 until the end of the session.

Fertility Effects

The sorcerer can reverse any effect which will retard plant growth, sour cow's milk, and make animals and people temporarily infertile. Such reverse effects can also be produced by Death magic.

Growth

All plants in the vicinity grow wildly. You decide on a difficulty; you can control plant growth within a cube with sides this long, shaping them as you like. They don't grow fast enough to catch somebody who is not sleeping, but can fill the entire volume in one Sequence. If you make plants grow too fast or into unnatural shapes, they will soon wither and die.

Germination

Makes plant seeds germinate even in very barren soil conditions, or increases milk production in animals. This lasts a number of weeks equal to your action result.

Fertilization
Cast on people or animals to make them more likely to conceive offspring. The GM makes a special check the next time the subject engages in activities likely to lead to procreation, adding your Magic and the lowest of the partners' Constitutions to an open roll. If the end result is 10, the female partner conceives. If the end result is 15, animals get larger litters and human subjects will have twins or even triplets.

If conception is normally impossible, such as between different species or within the same sex, the roll is still made, but with a penalty of ten. If the prospective "mother'' is normally unable to bear children (perhaps because "she"' is a male), Healing is also required.

Chi Scrambler

Chi scrambler is used to interfere with mystic powers. The scrambler sets up a globe of interference centered on the sorcerer. The diameter of the sphere is equal to character's Action Result in meters. Anybody using Sorcery, Arcanowave, Creature Powers, Fu power, Animal schtick or other Chi-based ability within this sphere, or against a target inside this sphere, suffer an extra penalty die.

De-Attunement

You can sever an individual's link to all of his feng shui sites, forcing him to re-attune to them in order to continue getting their benefits. Difficulty is the highest of the following; victim's Sorcery, Fortune or Magic rating, or (the number of feng shui sites he is attuned to) x3.

Harvest Chi

This is the effect the same name from Feng Shui, p 116.

You may spend a Magic point to add an extra positive die to any task check you witness. The difficulty is the target's Fortune or Magic attribute.

Steal Chi
The sorcerer may spend a Magic point to add an extra negative die to any task check attempted by any other character. The difficulty is the target's Fortune or Magic attribute.

Observe Chi

This is the effect the same name from Feng Shui, p 116.

Allows the sorcerer to see the flow of chi in an area. The stronger a place's chi, the easier it is for the sorcerer to see. She can immediately identify feng shui sites. She can identify the particular features in a natural formation or building that either channel or retard the flow of chi. The sorcerer can precisely peg the Chi rating and related attributes of any character. She can also see any lingering magical or arcanowave effects as these both deform the flow of chi in distinctive ways.

Life Sense
The sorcerer can roughly feel the location and size, but not the identity, of living creatures within a range equal to her Action Result. The Action Result must beat the highest Chi rating in the vicinity, or the image is blurry and very unfocused. This must be done subtly, or people will sense your scrying. It can be maintained as a continuos action.

Permanency

When you use a magical effect of duration other than instant, you may spend three Magic points to make the effect permanent. You must opt to do this before you roll any dice. There is a -5 Action Value penalty to such spells. If you fail, there is an automatic backlash. Permanent magic is locked into the world by some geas or riddle, that must be solved before the effect can be negated. It cannot simply be dispelled. See the Remove Curse effect under Divination or Metamagic. This effect is also available under Metamagic.

Restore Chi

This is the effect the same name from Feng Shui, p 117.

The sorcerer can restore chi flow where it has been disrupted or altered by Sorcery or Arcanowave technology. This cancels any currently active Sorcery, creature powers or arcanowave effects. Difficulty equals the Sorcery or Arcanowave Action Value of the character who caused the effect. The fertility sorcerer need only equal or exceed the Difficulty in order to completely neutralize the effect. If the Restore Chi attempt is made at the same time as a Sorcery or Arcanowave check and is successful, it prevents the Sorcery or Arcanowave effect from coming into play in the first place. This will not negate permanent magics, like those created using the Permanency effect. Similar to the Metamagic effect Dispel Sorcery and the Creature Power Dispel Magic.
