General Discussion

Alchemist should be changed to Apothecary, according to a discussion during the painting circle. --Mats 21:51, 3 March 2009 (CET)
THis should not be a problem since it has been discussed earlier. See Alchemy at the end of this page. My guess is that Abbe forgot to implement the name change. --Urban 23:04, 3 March 2009 (CET)
Indeed. --Starfox 08:24, 4 March 2009 (CET)

Celebrity

I removed "To be a celebrity is not a profession per se, but it is represented by the profession rules." After all, professional celebreties are common enough today. --Urban

If Overseer/Leader is made into a talent, it would make sense to have a general rule for "to check the loyalty of your followers" as described for Celebrity. It should already be possible to do that for your minions when you have the Followers feat. ---Urban 09:37, 22 August 2008 (CEST)

Skill names

I'm not too fond of Overseer as a name for general leadership ability. The name was fine for the previous description which was more of a professional bully. For me, Overseer has connotations of prison guards and plantation overseers more than actual leadership. The current description is more of a true leadership ability, so it needs a better name. I suggest renaming it to Commander or Officer and basing it on Charisma. --Urban 17:29, 20 August 2008 (CEST)

I'm thinking of making Overseer and Writer into talents instead of professions. As they require the use of another profession to work, they might be better off withut a skill value of their own. A name change would seem reasonable in this case. --Starfox 00:47, 21 August 2008 (CEST)
Good idea. See the notes for Celebrity above. --Urban 09:18, 22 August 2008 (CEST)

As for Soldiers, I think that discipline (Wis) is much more important than endurance (Con), so I would prefer a reversion to Wis. Fighters and Rangers benefit from Wisdom, and that bit of synergy is also nice. --Urban 17:29, 20 August 2008 (CEST)

As pole arms use Wisdom and are the archetypal soldier's weapon, I think this is a reasonable idea. --Starfox 00:47, 21 August 2008 (CEST)

Layout

I prefer the more compact three column layout. The required abilities are easily seen in the TOC to the right, and the three columns make it easy to jump to different skills without having to scroll the page. --Urban 17:06, 20 August 2008 (CEST)

Agreed. I lost the formatting becasue I was lazy. :) --Starfox 00:47, 21 August 2008 (CEST)

A benefit of the element is that it allows linking to the shorter span ID instead of using the section heading. --Urban 17:14, 20 August 2008 (CEST)

Free starting profession

I have added a free starting profession as per our off-line discussion. Should humans get an additional talent and/or profession? --Urban 07:43, 20 August 2008 (CEST)

Meta-professions

I'm thinking of dropping the meta-professions, and make them all equal. I.e. remove Perform (Instruments) (Cha) and just have Play Instrument (Cha). --Starfox

This is mostly done. Some mechanisms (craft, perform, fame) are on separate pages in order to save space.--Urban

Reference

The old version of the article can be accessed here. It includes a initial writeup of the Starfox draft. --Urban 12:11, 18 August 2008 (CEST)

Alchemy

Rules for alchemy (including a feat) appeared in Adventurer's Vault. Does this make the Alchemist profession obsolete? --Urban 15:34, 10 November 2008 (CET)

I guess at least a name-change is in order. Apothecary seems like a good substitute. Will check it out. --Starfox 00:10, 11 November 2008 (CET)

Missing professions

Woodworking (or possibly capentry) is a fairly important craft that is missing. --Urban 21:08, 29 November 2008 (CET)

Done. --Starfox 14:10, 4 December 2009 (CET)
