Order of Saint Sylvester (Shadowrun)

An order of clergy dedicated to the (non-historical) Saint Sylvester. Since the church officially accepted magic, it has been the task of this order to investigate and develop catholic magic powers under the direct control of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

The order is organized along monastic lines, and has the usual rangs of Monastics and lay members. Magicians of the order are often refeered to as Magic Priests, but in fact only non-awakened members can be Ordained.

The order maintains a vast magical university and library, has restricted access to the accumulated lore of the entire church, and sponsors many magic groups. It is a prime mover in Theurgy, but also performs research in other magic traditions, especially Hermetic magic and maintains extensive libraries of such lore. Some associate professors actually belong to other magic traditions.
