MatronMalafrena runs a tight ship because she knows she is not strong enough to challenge HouseHasdrubel (yet) and that she must maintain strength enough to make sure that HouseDormtor doesn't get any ideas. At the same time she must seem harmless enough to make sure that the First and Third Houses ignore her (well, as much as is possible at least) and keep up their intriguing and feuding. Aided in this by several priestly daughters and three skilled sons she seems to do a good job and her house is one of the strongest forces in the financial world of the city.
Oddly enough the First and Second Sons of the house rank as equals, since they are twins. The excentric brothers Liaram and Tsankao both share the roles as Weaponsmaster and HouseWizard.
