Dodging Patronage

In the relative calm following the battle for the GrandTemple MatronQuavyl decides she needs another daughter to replace the murdered VasTana and so she approaches her ally, MatronNemalzhi to find a Patron.

Orrb transforms into a guardian DemonSpider, apparently tasked by Lolth to guard the temple of HouseNemalzhi

Things do not go as planned however as Zhe'raens wild nature (somewhat exaggerated by Zhe'raen for the occasion) does not appeal to the conservative MatronQuavyl. Ahriman is ruled out as well, since Zhe'raen cites valid military reasons for not sending him off. This would make Nirl available if not for the fact that Zarhrae makes a plea not to rob him of his best friend in HouseNemalzhi. Faced with this, MatronQuavyl decides it would be better to find a Patron somewhere else. Zhe'raen, knowing what's coming, has prepared an excuse to leave earlier and makes his escape before MatronNemalzhi throws a tantrum and several objects, scolding her males for shaming her, making her house look like it lacks any males worth breeding with. The men are dismissed and MatronNemalzhi goes off to sulk.

Zarathustriel engages in her favourite passtime: shopping groceries for personal use. GhulDril is appointed as commander of her escort for the day. After a while Zarathustriel feels a need for street-preaching and proceeds to do just that. Her sermon focuses on getting the audience to ask themselves "What is the essence of the will of Lolth?" After a while her religious fervor dies down and visibly exhausted asks to be brought home where she seculdes herself in her suite for some time to rest.

Later Ahriman finds out that it is possible to teach a Goblin magics and deposes of the successful student.

GhulDril and Zhe'raen go to the GrandTemple separately. GhulDril engages Zha'nel in conversation and finds the girl both insightful and skilled.

Zhe'raen approaches PriestessZolthra to assure her that HouseNemalzhi has no gripe with the GrandTemple as such but all anger was directed at the former administration. Zolthra is not unaware of this but just to be on the safe side, Zhe'raen shows his friendly attitude in a manner that leaves all doubts behind.

Zhaunil worries that the cult of Lolth might be adversely affected by recent events and approaches Xora and asks her to help in making sure that the commoners, at least, have a chance to interact with their godess even if the nobles of the city mostly seem content in performing daily rites at their own temples. Xora is delighted by the idea and promptly wanders off, teaching all and any commoners how to worship and be a Priestess. On the streets of the City...not in the GrandTemple. For some reason Zarathustriel does not object to this in the least.
