A synthetic version of the web glands of the ettercap is used to produce a chemical compound that forms resilient fibers when exposed to air. These strands tie down and bind targets, hopefully neutralizing them.

Tangleweb can be delivered either as a touch attack (such as from a Chemical Projector) or as an area weapon (such as a grenade). In the later case, a Reflex saving throw (DC 20) is allowed to avoid being hit.

A target hit by tangleweb is automatically entangled, and must make a Reflex saving throw (DC 15) to avoid becoming affixed to some nearby surface. An entangled creature suffers a -2 penalty to attack rolls and a -4 penalty to effective Dexterity. If the bonds are anchored to an immobile object, the entangled character cannot move. Otherwise, he can move at half speed, but can't run or charge. An entangled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a Concentration check (DC 15+ spell level) or lose the spell.

Breaking free of a tangleweb requires a Strength or Escape artist roll (DC 25).

An area covered by tangleweb provides 25% cover for each 5 ft. of webbing along the line-of-sight, and requires a Strength or Escape Artist roll (DC 10) to move through - you can move five feet for every five points of margin on this roll.

Tangleweb remains sticky and entangling for 10+2d6 minutes, and thereafter turns brittle and breaks apart. This process can be made instant through application of a specific enzyme (cr 20 per can), but different brands of tangleweb use different enzymes.
