There are countless untamed worlds in the Outlands, and the Imperial Ranger's goal is to explore them all. Imperial Rangers are explorers, hunters and military specialists. They are often part of the first settlement teams to colonize Outland's worlds, and they serve these isolated colonies as a protectors and guardians. Others are attached to special military units, serving as advanced scouts and commandos.

While the Imperial Ranger is not as spiritually attuned to nature as the outlands ranger, she is a skilled marksman and is able to survive in any terrain.

Design notes

This is a replacement for the Ranger intended for Dragonstar and other modern/sci-fi settings. Favoured enemy and favoured terrain are omitted in order to reduce the numer of variable bonuses. These are replaced with bonus feats geared towards stealth, infiltration and ranged combat. An Imperial Ranger gets quite a few bonus feats, but she does lose spells, favored enemy and animal companion. The ranger is thus a field soldier, explorer, or commando, while a fighter is a a gunner, swat officer, or assault trooper.
