An Advanced Gun Pod is an advanced version of the basic Gun Pod, equipped to provide point-accurate fire. Because of the cost, these robots are to be retrieved whenever possible. This robot was the precursor to the Gun Pod project that is currently in use, but proved too expensive for general use. A few Advanced Gun Pods are still in inventory, but issued only for critical missions.

The Advanced Gun Pod is completely immobile. The merit of this immobility is that the tiny robot can fire a tripod-mounted weapon twice the size of the robot itself.

The robot comes packed into a trunk-sized container weighting 90 lb, and must be manually assembled. This can be done in a minute by anyone with the Technical Proficiency feat, or with three successful full round actions with a Repair roll of 15 for each action. The trunk itself is bulletproof and forms the gun shield when the weapon is assembled; it has a Hardness of 18 and 140 hp.

The Advanced Gun Pod can communicate in common, digital, and draconic, and will issue challenges and warn off intruders if so instructed.

Combat: Once assembled, the Advanced Gun Pod will provide supporting fire, suppressive fire, or opportunity fire, as dictated by the situation. It is provided with an integral gun shield (Hardness 18, 140 hp) that provides a +4 shield bonus to AC. Due to the inertial stabilizer, the robot scores one extra auto fire hit for every four points of attack margin, and can shoot suppressive fire at only a -2 penalty. But the Gun Pod truly excels when using the Opportunity Shot feat.
