A special lattice grown from the remains of crystals found in Antarctica, this small, hand-held object looks somewhat like a mix between a piece of coral and an anemone. It reacts to ambinet chi flows, and heats up when it comes near an active chi source. It is rather insensitive, so it cannot be used to detect spells or other subtle chi effects; rather, it detects life forms, Feng Shui sites and the presence of mystically active individuals.

When you come closer to another creature than his Magic in meters, the lattice will heat up significantly enough to be noticed. At shorter distances, it will grow progressively hotter.

Though it is counted as an arcanowave device, and used with that skill, the Essence Lattice does not cause mutation.
