Skillsoft Socket

A rack for plugging in skillsofts, programs and processors that allow the use of skills. These small plug-ins allow you to handle almost any situation that might arise during a scenario.

  • You can plug-in a number of skillsofts equal to the number of picks you have in this schtick during each session.
  • Skillsoft sockets cannot substitute for physical skills, such as Guns or Martial Arts or the physical aspects of Intrusion. Skillwires can make up for this.
  • Nor can they substitute for mystic skills, such as Shaping, Sorcery, Creature Powers or Arcanowave.
  • Only a specific application of each skill is covered; one type of vehicle, equipment or cultual situation.
  • A skillsoft only runns for a single scene or fight.

Under these limitations, skillsofts allow you to use a chipped skill at your highest skill value.

You cannot use Animal, Race or Fu schticks with Skilsoft skills. You cannot use a Skillsoft Socket along with any Chi-based abilities except Fortune points. Fu or Magic points or skills cannot be chipped or used to enhance chipped abilities. If the campaign allows full integration of magic and technology, this can be overcome by ChiWires, but this is not the normal situation - check with your GM is this is allowed in your setting.

You can normally be assumed to have skillsofts for any applicable skill or situation in cybernetic junctures, but as the situation changes, your 'softs will become obsolete and may begin at less than optimum value. It is basically impossible to find a 'soft for using roman siege engines and such.

One schtick is slick. Two schticks can be detected by sensors. Three schticks are visible under close observation. Four schticks (the maximum possible) require a solid housing that is obvious to anyone.
