Badware


You don't pay to have badware, but that is the only good thing about it. Badware is something others put into you in order to control you or cause you harm, or a result of substandard equipment, installation or training. It's something you get stuck with for plot purposes. In some cases, the GM may even give you free cyber schticks equal in number to your badware schticks.

Some badware are systems can be surgically removed. It takes a Medicine or Sorcery (using technomancy or healing) action result of 20 to remove surgically embedded badware without causing injury. This takes several hours of diagnostics followed by half an hour of surgery. Any negative outcome is treated as a failed Death Test, leavingthe patient dying, but still destroys the badware. If the disarming code is known, removal is a simple process, though it still takes surgery.

Other badware is simply a function of neglect and cost-saving. Getting rid of that takes a major overhaul of your cyber, better doctors and technicians, and a lot of money.

If you got free cyber schticks from the badware that you later get rid of, you have to pay for the difference or lose some cyber schticks.
