Unlike Louisiana, who started out as a protectorate of France, Quebec at first sought to maintain a strict neutrality towards it's mother country. But encirclement and increasing raids from the Maritime Provinces demanded a response, and in the summer of 1937, Quebec made an alliance with France, who pledged help with Quebec's troublesome neighbor. This started the St. Lawrence Incident. Now Quebec is allied with france, but still by no means a French protectorate. |
