The heir of a once-great nation, Columbia is formally the old USA. This means that Columbia tries to maintain some of the old USA's foreign holdings and treaties, such as the Panama Canal. It also means that a disproportionately large part of the East Coast Fleet is loyal to Columbia, to such a degree that the nation cannot afford to maintain it. Columbia consists of the states Maryland and Delaware, as well as Washington, DC. As a proponent of the ideals of the old USA, Columbia refuses to take part in the partisan conflicts of the other states, and does what it can to remain neutral in all matters. This is getting increasingly difficult with the growing tension between Dixie and the Empire State. Columbia maintains free-trade relationships with anyone who offers mutual conditions (currently only the Maritime Provinces and Quebec).
