Aircraft Repair

Jonas Peterson wrote the table based on experience with modern-day aircraft.

System: The name of the airplane component, in Crimson Skies terms.

Difficulty: A general assessment of the skill required to do the repairs. This is often given as a range, depending on the severity of the hit, which is basically random, not a function of the number of damage boxes.

A table for translating difficulties into T3 and Crimson Skies skill values, for Fix-It, Aircraft Mechanic or some similar skill. The CS value is the base difficulty, from which the mechanic's skill is subtracted.

Difficulty CS value T3 value
Easy 5 8
Medium 7 10
Hard 9 12
Very Hard 12 15

Time: How long the repair takes. This includes setup time, so several aircraft could have the same system repaired with little extra time. This applies to Wing Spar and Armor damage in particular.

Spares: What spares are required. Improvising spares can be done in the field, but such jury-rigging is temporary at best, and unreliable in combat. All maneuvers involving the system suffers a +2 target number modifier. "Standard" spares are available in any aircraft-repair bay.

Notes:

Engine: An engine that has had it's maximum speed reduced, but not below it's normal speed value, must still be repaired. It is both easier and faster to replace an "engine 1" damage than it is to repair it.

Canopy: If you have a bubble canopy, it must be replaced. This is easier, if you have the parts in store.
