My whiskies

Islay

  • Bruichladdich Valinch Grandpa John 14 yo refill sherry hogshead 54.8%
  • Bruichladdich Valinch Lord Robertson 14 yo refill sherry 56.3%
  • Bruichladdich Valinch Baraille 14 yo fresh sherry - Bruichladdich first valinch.
  • Bruichladdich 15 yo 1st edition x2 - This became my favourite "drinking" whisky. It was cheep enough and good. Not particularly peaty.
  • Bruichladdich Blacker still 20 yo (1986) 50.7%
  • Bruichladdich Legacy Series two 37 yo - Absolutely loved this whisky! The best whisky I've owned myself. Bought it for £200 but saw it listed at £350 before it ran out. I hesitated, but didn't buy another.
  • Port Charlotte 6 yo - Surprisingly good. I usually don't like whisky this young.
  • Octomore, Ochdamh-mòr 6 yo (2002) 46% x2 - Not as peaty as suspected.
  • Bowmore Darkest - I asked at the distillery and they told me that it was 12 yo with additional two years on sherry casks. It's a good whisky but since it had a price hike I don't think it's worth the price. It used to be a favoured "drinking" whisky.
  • Bowmore 25 yo
  • Port Ellen 21 yo (1982) Douglas Laing & Co
  • Port Ellen 26 yo (1978) Douglas Laing & Co
  • Port Ellen 26 yo (1979) 54% Old Bothwell
  • Laphroaigh Quarter Cask - I was not impressed by this whisky.
  • Laphroaigh Càirdeas 17 yo 55%
  • Laphroaigh Vintage 17 yo (1989) 50.3%
  • Laphroaigh 30 yo - This is a really good whisky. Favorite "enjoyment" whisky. Recently unavailable from Laphroaigh.
  • Lagavulin Distillers Edition 1988 - It's sherry cask and with the sweet Lagavulin it was almost a candy whisky, although heavily peated.
  • Lagavulin 25 yo cask strength - A little disappointed.
  • Lagavulin 16 yo - Very good. It almost seems that Lagavulin is distilled for only this age.
  • Ardbeg Lord of the Isles
  • Bunnahabhain 12 yo
  • Caol Ila Distillers Edition

Cambletown

  • Longrow 18 yo (1990) (Specially casked for Magnus Fagerström.)
  • Springbank 35 yo (1965) Douglas Laing & Co
  • Springbank 38 yo (1968) Dun Bheagan Vintage bottling

Highland

  • Highland Park 18 yo

Lowland

  • Rosebank Connoisseurs Choice 17 yo (1991) 43%

Speyside

  • Linkwood sherry cask (1990) Murray McDavid

Japan

  • Hanyu 20 yo (1988)
An old picture of my collection. It has grown since, and a few have been emptied.
A picture of some additions. The reason for the extra label for the Springbank is that the original had the wrong destilation year and a new label was just added with a new box.
A very strange label on this Japanese whisky. It says: Nice Butt 9307 to the left of the drawing.

Other whiskies

  • Springbank - Most of the old Springbanks I've tasted are just incredible. Pity their usually overpriced.
  • Port Ellen - I really love several Port Ellen I've tasted, preferably sherry casked. Sadly the ones I've bought never really stood up to most of the ones I've tasted.
  • Brora - Another closed distillery I have found to have made good whisky.
