Talk:Mirror Image (D&D spell)
I made two versions of this spell. The AC version has more staying power, while the auto.hit version is initially safer and somewhat easier to use in play as there is no to-hit roll.
I prefer the autohit version slightly because it is less complex, bit I am open to suggestions.
I think that the AC version does not need to be that cumbersome, if you just change the AC calculation to be vs "touch AC". It's close enough anyway, and touch AC is something you have clearly written on your Character Sheet. --User:Mats Öhrman (Hastur)
What's the difference to touch AC? There's the problem that the "AC"version is more closely to the original spell and therefore I like that one. On the other hand the other is simpler and simple is good. The "Auto-hit" version starts out at the same number (3) which is weaker but gets better in the long run, especially when most foes will easily hit your touch AC anyways... - TexaS
The difference? AFAIK it's deflection modifiers, such as Dodge. Looking at the SRD:
- Touch Attacks
- Some attacks disregard armor, including shields and natural armor. In these cases, the attacker makes a touch attack roll (either ranged or melee). When you are the target of a touch attack, your AC doesn’t include any armor bonus, shield bonus, or natural armor bonus. All other modifiers, such as your size modifier, Dexterity modifier, and deflection bonus (if any) apply normally.
versus the spell:
- An image’s AC is 10 + your size modifier + your Dex modifier.

Hm, I just now saw that Abbe's version on the page does use the touch attack definition; It was just that it was not labelled as such... --MatsÖhrman 12:44, 21 May 2007 (CEST)
