Planet Skar (Dragonstar)

Planet Skar is an ugly industrial world at the fringe of House Mazorgrim space. The world is rich in heavy minerals, and thousands of years of mining has ravaged the world, leaving little more on the surface than ash wastes and slag heaps. Cities and factories are built under huge domes for protection from the ash storms. The red sun and ash grey skies makes the planet look like a vision of hell. The mines and factories are little better.

The native population consists of orks, humans and halfbreeds. Most of them work in factories or mines. Planet Skar's primary exports are raw materials, spaceships and military equipment of averge quality.

During the last millenium raw materials have become scarce, and the industrial output has decreased. As a result, factories have been shut down, and many of the domes have fallen into disrepair. Unemployment is high and social security minimal. Many of the unemployed live in the abandoned domes, harvesting fungus and looking for resellable scrap. Barbaric gangs prey on those too weak to defend themselves and fight each other for territory.

This matters little to the red dragons, who are only interested in plundering the last of the planet's wealth. The planet has a population that numbers in the billions. The unemployed are desperate to escape off-world, and Planet Skar is one of the primary recruitment points for the Imperial Legions.
