In this chapter continuing through tunnels the heroes meet kobolds standing guard in the way.

Enga Keckvia

As I sneaked up to end of the tunnel. It made a sharp turn and it was impossible to look into the room beyond without being seen by the kobold guard standing at the end of the tunnel. It saw me as I got to within a few inches, but I still couldn't see the room clearly. The others didn't want to attack them, but talk to them, so I let them. Not understanding their language I kept to the back. It turned out that their leader was called Enga Keckvia.

It turned out she spoke some common but preferred what they called draconic. I still understood some and Nathaniel translated some. We told her we were going through to fight Mokmurian. She said they were hired by him to guard the way we came. The first idea to gain their support in fighting him didn't work out. Enga also said that Mokmurian was a too tough fight for us and that we wouldn't win. We said we were tough too. Then she challenged one of us to a duel and Velicia, who had done a lot of talking stepped up to fight her.

We were let into the room and Enga Keckvia and Velicia stepped out into the middle. We and the other kobolds surrounded them. Honeypot cheered on as the duel started. I used my magical dagger to create a throne to sit on and took out some food from my bag of holding. I watched Enga stab Velicia with her spear time and time again, while eating what Kaven had prepared. It didn't look too good for Velicia and she tried to end the duel without loosing. Honeypot tried to help her and talked a lot but the kobolds looked skeptical until I said that I thought that they looked hungry. Wouldn't it be better to eat than to watch the boring fight. Everybody, especially Velicia, except Enga seemed very happy at the idea of eating. The kobolds really didn't look well fed. When Honeypot took out her horn of cornucopia and started pouring food into the hands of the kobolds watching, Enga joined the hungry crowd.

Enga told us of how she had first met Mokumurian. She had fought him on a bridge. He won but he still thought she was tough and offered her the job of guarding the back door to his dungeon. She told us he was rich and generous. Honeypot noted that so were we and offered as much food as they could eat. There was a big feast and Honeypot kept them distracted and made all kobolds eat too much, and they got tired. I sneaked off to scout around. There were two corridors leading out of the room. One led to big giant rooms, the other to smaller rooms that then led to the giant's mess hall. While sneaking back and looking around carefully I found a secret door. I silently opened it using my excellent magical thieves tools.

Inside I saw a giant standing, watching the other way. It had lots of tattooed runes and was wearing lots of gold. I wasn't sure as I would have though that we would have found him in a throne room or something but I thought it might be Mokmurian. Very carefully I closed door as silently as I could and returned to the others.
