Concept for a City of Villains comic for the EU contest. Remember to read the latest version!

News

Location

Location of story is now Haven on Cap au Diable since the view is very nice there.

Downloads

All images are now available for download as well as fonts.

Problems

Demo playback (dump) does not render models antialiased. As a a result, they look very jagged, so using demos is not an option. Problem was solved by creating a set of stalker/actors (The Rogue Isles Ninja Actors Guild) and taking pictures normally using screenshots.

Lettering

All caps, bold for emphasis. Text below is in mixed case. Text in ALL CAPS will be bold in comic.

Fonts

Detectives inc for title font.

Webletterer BB for text. The italioc version of this font is slightly larger and in bold, so lettering should be easy.

These are free fonts from Blambot .

I may make an effort to reduce the amount of text as per Rockjaw's guide. Hack thinks we should less bold, and he may have a point.

Not sure if we need to fit credits onto bottom of first page. I will check with Rockjaw. Assume strip half a panel high for COV logo.

Classroom. Rick on knees (em greif, this allows me to move actors around). Go for a dark room with spot on Rick to make the others look more sinisters. Possibly most difficult pic to take.

Classroom. Rick is sitting alone on desk.

Rick: Sometimes school SUCKS.

Panel 2.1

Rick outside building.

Rick: "After school I work in Doc's LAB."

Rick: "Doc says school is IMPORTANT."

Robot being upgraded.

Doc: "KNOWLEDGE is POWER, Rick!"

Rick: "Doc helps me BUILD stuff".

Flashback. Fembot smacks doc. Difficult to get slap or smack emote right, so I used smackyou (threat).

Rick: "Doc rebuilt his grilfriend once."

Fembot: "I DIE and you turn me into a fembot? CREEP!"

Effect: SLAP!

Rick (from behind) in front of door. Will probably have to use door outside, or perhaps a door in Atlas or Galaxy.

Rick: There are SOME things you have to do ALONE.

Rick: FIRE! (note: fairly small panel, so I thouht text could be removed)

Alex reeling back, as if hit by laser blast. Use slapreact and take snapshot when he is leaning back as far as possible.

Effect: ZAP! (Very difficult to get laser blast to show up. Are we allowed to add it manually? Perhaps the FX bubble is enough...)

NOTE: I will try to find an alley in Mercey, that should be faster than taking pics in Cap. We do have a pretty good location, though.

Panel 4.1

Either in Cap or Arachnos base in Mercy. I'll probably do Mercy first and see how that turns out (faster). Alex and Betty on platform in Arachnos uniforms in with copter to the side. Camera near ground.

Rick: This is the Rogue Isles. If you have SMARTS and AMBITION you can go FAR.

Rick: If you don't, you'll go NOWHERE.

Logistics

NinjaNoHime has now created the villain group TheArtists and built a small studio base, containing the following prop sets:

• Small robot workshop/factory
• School classroom

The base turned out very well. It's a shame it was so expensive, since roleplayers might want something similar.
