Bane is a Lawful Evil deity in the Forgotten Realms. He is the god of rule through fear and order from oppression.

The weak should serve the strong. The strong must maintain their strength or be cast down, as they deserve. Chaos, individualism and undeserved mercy are just expression of weakness and irresponsibility. Laws must be strict and harsh for those weak of will and mind will always try to escape their duties of servitude and rulership.
