Drow

Summons And Rejection

Matron LaiHezz, Ahriman and Zhe'raen gather at the HouseOfMagic to test the cube Lai Hezz got as a gift from Ahriman. A large assembly of wizards are present as well. All come prepared for trouble and Matron LaiHezz comes equipped with an odd truncheon of some pale material.

It is placed on the floor in a lecturing hall and a happless apprentice is used as a catalyst to activate the cube.

Soon the cube starts unfold and behave in a magic manner and eventually a creak and a thud is heard. A Devil has arrived albeit in a poor condition, leaking ichor from it's broken form. The rivulets of infernal fluids form a summoning pattern of some magnitude and all present start preparing spells and physical weapons for attack and defence.

This is a Good Thing since a fairly impressive gate to Hell opens and a host of battle-eager Devils spill out and starts menacing everyone present. A large amount of fiighting breaks aout and Matron LaiHezz's truncheon is revealed to actually be a thighbone of an Angel, hence dissolving Devils with the slightest of blows.

Ahriman senses a potential disatser and tries to close the infernal gate but instead manages to trigger the very disaster he tried to avert by somehow calling to one of the lords of Hell, the Lord of the Fourth.

The lesser Devils withdraw before their superior and Zhe'raen engages the mighty beast in combat to the delight of Matron LaiHezz. Zhe'raen fares rather well against the Lord of the Fourth, being small and quick, and the battle rages on. He can sense Lolth's presence within him, which only makes him even more elated. He manages to climb his way up and put his sword through the devil's eye, but is flung down and seriously injured.

Ahriman, meanwhile, has borrowed Matron LaiHezz's truncheon. Recognizing it for what it is he is struck by a Cunning Plan. He promptly summons an Angel with it.

The Angel, upon arrival, immediately senses one of its ancient foes in the hall. The Angel and the Devil fall upon each other, while the assembled drow look upon them in awe. Well, Matron LaiHezz and Zhe'raen look mostly fascinated. Ahriman, realizing that this only can end in disaster, prepares a teleportation spell, and quickly teleports them out.

Zhe'raen is losing blood quickly but was so fascinated by the battle that he becomes very peevish when he realizes that he has been teleported away from the fun. His mood becomes even worse when he spies GhulDril and a gaggle of young priestesses. The priestesses are ecstatic at the chance of healing Zhe'raen, and he tries valiantly not to snarl.

Back in the only partially standing HouseOfMagic, Zhe'raen and Matron LaiHezz settle back to enjoy the battle. It is almost finished, and as they watch the Angel sends the Devil back to his plane with one mighty blow. He then turns to the drow and demands that Ahriman should be punished. Ahriman, of course, is not amused and prepares to bolt the Angel into oblivion.

Zhe'raen draws his sword to defend Ahriman. The Angel looks surprised and rather interested. He accepts up the challenge. While they fight, Ahriman tries to bolt the devil and hits Zhe'raen instead. The only reason why Zhe'raen survives is Lolth's presence, and even she is hurting - and angry. Another bolt sends the angel back to its dimension, and Ahriman is left to face his brother.

Zhe'raen, furious, orders Ahriman to go directly to the temple and abase himself before Lolth - she might forgive him. Ahriman follows the advice, only to be renounced by Lolth and made outcast before the whole temple. From now on, he no longer belongs to the drow.

MatronNemalzhi is livid with anger, but Zhe'raen convinces her that Ahriman is still useful to the house - if he can hurt even Lolth, he is a weapon beyond imagination.
