Development

This rule is under development and is not in use!

Rule

Troopers under heavy fire become disoriented and shocked. Pinning is the firearms equivalent of flanking and is caused by:

  • Fire from opposite fire arcs in the same round.
  • Inside burts radius of Barrage Weapons, such as mortar and artiller fire. Artillery counts, hand grenades and fireballs do not.
  • Inside SupressiveFire arc.

Pinned troopers are easier to hit. The attacker gain a +2 bonus to hit. This does not stack with melee flanking bonus (it's the same thing, caused by ranged fire). When attacking a pinned enemy, you can use SneakAttack.

The target does not have to be hit or injured in order to be pinned.

Notes

The term Pinning is taken from WH40K. In this game, it is a morale roll caused by sniper rifle fire and barrage (large area effect weapons). Note to self: Check WH40K for rules fluff.

We could call it Flanking Fire, but I like the idea that troops are pinned by heavy artillery, even if they are not actually injured.
