Dissenting Sacerdote (Apath)
Unofficial rules compendium | |
|
Dissenting sacerdotes are at odds with the temporal powers of the world and lives a life of persecution and intruige. This can be because their entire faith is persecuted, because they are accused of being schismatics or heretics, because they are wanted by the law for worldly crimes, or because they have chosen to go undercover. They cannot practice their faith openly, and are forced to take their beliefs underground. They remain theorists more than insurgents and their clandestine life may come to resemble an ivory tower.

Class Information
This is a sacerdote archetype.

Class Features
This archetype has all normal class features, except as noted.
Secrets of the Faith
Add the following spells to the dissenting sacerdote's domain spell list at the indicated spell levels.
- illusion of calm
- rope trick
- nondetection
- detect scrying
- mage's private sanctum
- veil
- mage's magnificent mansion
- screen
- communal mind blank
He also adds a sacred bonus equal to 1/2 her level on Sleight of Hand checks for innocuous spellcasting.
Divine Focus
A dissenting sacerdote can invent his own symbol to use as a divine focus. This can even be the divine focus of another religion, with subtle modifications that require close inspection and a Knowledge (Religion) check (DC 10 + the sacerdote's Knowledge (Religion) modifier).
Domains
The dissident sacerdote begins play with access to only a single domain. At level 3 and every 4 levels thereafter (at 3rd, 7th, 11th, 15th, and 19th level) the sacerdote chooses a new domain. This domain is chosen using the normal sacerdote restrictions, but the dissident is free to change what patron, pantheon etc he serves at any point in his career, and can always chose to strike out on his own to avoid all restrictions. This modifies the domains ability and replaces all bonus feats.
Flexible Manifestation (Ex)
At 5th level and every 4 levels thereafter when the dissenting sacerdote learns a new manifestation, he can choose to take a bonus feat instead. He can choose a metamagic feat, an item creation feat, or a wrath feat. The dissenting sacerdote must meet all prerequisites of each bonus feat.

In addition to the stated number of spells per day for 1st- through 9th-level spells, a sacerdote gets an equal number of domain spells for each spell level, starting at 1st. The "x+x" in the entries on this table represents these additional spells. Bonus spells the sacerdote may receive for having a high Wisdom score apply only to cleric spells and not to domain spells.
Becoming a Dissenting Sacredote
A sacredote that has a serious breach with authority and at the same time a crisis of faith might emerge from this ordeal as a dissenting sacredote. Simply retrain the character using this archetype. The higher level the sacredote is and the more established he is, the more extreme the event that pushes him into becoming a dissident needs to be.
Summary of Changed Class Abilities
These abilities of the original class are lost or modified in this archetype:
