Crusading Preacher (Apath)
Unofficial rules compendium | |
|
Some theurges are absorbed by a great task, be it to wage a war, spread the faith, or expunge a widespread sin or heresy. Whatever the cause, the crusading preacher tries to involve a great many people and to bolster their efforts.
Class Information
This is a theurge archetype.
Hit Dice: d6.
Class Features
This archetype has all normal class features, except as noted.
Community Domain
A crusading preacher must choose the Community domain and may do so even if his patron does not ordinarily offer this domain. If the crusading preacher could not ordinarily have selected the Community domain he must drop one of the domains he would ordinarily have access to. The crusading preacher does not gain any domain powers from domains other than the Community domain, but still gains their domain spells like a normal theurge.
Public Speaker (Ex)
A crusading preacher gains Perform (Oratory) as a class skill. In addition, she is trained to project her voice with great skill and effect; the DC to hear her speak in difficult conditions is reduced by an amount equal to her class level plus her Charisma modifier (minimum 0).
Sermonic Performance (Su)
A crusading preacher the ability to deliver a select number of supernatural and spell-like performances through the force and power of her divinely inspired preaching and exhortation. This ability is similar in all respects to bardic performance as used by a bard of the same level as the crusading preacher's Perform (oratory) ranks (including interactions with feats, spells, and prestige classes). However, a crusading preacher gains only the following types of bardic performance: countersong, fascinate, and inspire courage at 1st level; inspire greatness at 9th level; and inspire heroics at 15th level.
This replaces the teurge's bonus feats.
Legion’s Blessing (Su)
At 7th level, a crusading preacher gains the ability to confer beneficial spells quickly to a large group of allies. As a full-round action, the crusading preacher may confer the effects of a single harmless spell with a range of touch to a number of creatures equal to her crusading preacher level. All intended recipients must be within 30 ft. when the spell is cast. Using the legion’s blessing expends the prepared spell, but it also requires the crusading preacher to sacrifice another prepared spell three levels higher. The higher-level spell is not cast but is simply lost, its magical energy used to power the legion’s blessing.

In addition to the stated number of spells per day for 1st- through 9th-level spells, a teurge gets an equal number of domain spells for each spell level, starting at 1st. The "x+x" in the entries on this table represents these extra spells. Bonus spells the teurge may receive for having a high wisdom score apply to both regular spells and domain spells separately and is thus applied twice.
