Canny fighters are clever tacticians that exploit every advantage. Disdaining armor for the sake of mobility, they instead rely on acumen and insight to survive.

This is a martial arts archetype deliberately designed to be as similar to the regular fighter as possible.

Class Information

The canny fighter is a fighter archetype and a a martial artist of the way of the mind.

Role: Canny fighters fight in the forefront alongside fighters, barbarians, and other melee combatants, using calculation and guile where others rely on armor and brawn.

Alignment: Any.

Hit Die: d10.

Class Skills

The canny fighter's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are The fighter's class skills are Appraise (Int), Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Intimidate (Cha), Knowledge (dungeoneering) (Int), Knowledge (engineering) (Int), Knowledge (geography) (Int), Profession (Wis), Ride (Dex), Survival (Wis), and Swim (Str).

Skill Ranks at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier.

Class Features

These are all the class features of the canny fighter.

Armor and Weapon Proficiency

Canny fighters are proficient with all simple and martial weapons and with light armor and shields (excluding tower shields).

Canny Defense (Ex)

When wearing light or no armor, a canny fighter adds 1 point of Intelligence bonus (if any) per canny fighter class level as a dodge bonus to CMD and Armor Class. If a canny fighter is caught unarmed or is flat-footed or otherwise denied her Dexterity bonus to armor class, she also loses this bonus.

Light Armor Training (Ex)

A canny fighter's armor training ability never applies to medium or heavy armor. This modifies the armor training class feature.
