Unofficial rules compendium

Some wizards are born to magic, it is in their blood. Still, they are not sorcerers - maybe because their blood is too thin or simply because they were caught young and trained in a wizard academy. Some wizard schools can actually create a bloodline wizard by alchemical infusion, magical adoption, or other means.

Wizard Bloodline

A bloodline wizard selects one bloodline similar to that of a sorcerer. Each bloodline wizard has a source of magic somewhere in his heritage that grants him spells, bonus feats, an additional class skill, and other special abilities. This source can represent a blood relation or an extreme event involving a creature somewhere in the family's past. For example, a bloodline wizard might have a dragon as a distant relative or his grandfather might have signed a terrible contract with a devil. Regardless of the source, this influence manifests in a number of ways as the bloodline wizard gains levels. A bloodline wizard must pick one bloodline upon taking his first level of bloodline wizard. Once made, this choice cannot be changed.

A bloodline wizard gains class skills, arcana, bonus feats, and powers from his bloodline as a sorcerer of his bloodline wizard level. Any bloodline ability that is based on Charisma is based on Intelligence for the bloodline wizard. If a skill granted by the bloodline is already a class skill, there is no benefit.

At 1st level, and every two levels thereafter until level 17, a bloodline wizard learns an additional spell of the highest level he can cast, derived from his bloodline. Note that wizards learn bloodline spells at a different rate than sorcerers. These spells are added to the bloodline wizard's spell book at their sorcerer spell level and also added to his list of known spells if they are not on the ordinary sorcerer/wizard spell list.

In addition, bloodline wizards receive an additional spell slot of each spell level he can cast, from 1st on up. Each day, a bloodline wizard can prepare a bloodline spell in that slot. A wizard can select a bloodline spell modified by a metamagic feat to prepare in his bloodline slot, but it uses up a higher-level spell slot.

This replaces arcane bond, arcane school, and bonus feats.
