A Proficiency Badge denotes proficiency in a field.
Description
Metal badge worn on the left side of the chest above any medal ribbons. There is a separate badge for each MOS.
Qualification
A Proficiency Badge is awarded when a Marine qualifies for a MOS. In order to encourage cross-training, a sum of money is awarded. There is no award for a character's first MOS (typically Rifleman).
The Marine must meet the requirements listed for a MOS. MOS certification is encouranged but not required. A Marine can be certified for a MOS at any time he meets the requirements, and gains an award depending on his current rank and level.
