Imperial xenologists acknowledge that the Xerg are connected to a Hive Mind, but little is known. There are several theories:
- There is a large 'Hive Queen' that acts as the central brain, much like a Mind Flayer brain pool.
- The race (or each swarm) is part of an astral pshychic field.
