All dwarfs are androgynous and capable of bearing children. Most seem to be males to outsiders, tough a few adopt what seems to be a female identity. Placing no importance on gender and mostly identifying with the males of other races, dwarfs generally refer to themselves as male. Dwarf procreation is indirect; it involves the exchange of various sex toys but no direct physical contact and has no bearing on love or relationships. Dwarfs know enough to value genetic diversity; gift-giving between different dwarf clans is more than just a ritual.
Real-World Models
None, or a parody of the Swiss.
Cultural Traits
Loyal, Dour, Clannish, Industrious, Materialistic.
Practices
Masturbation (often in connection with precious objects), Voyeurism (other races), Sex toys, Pornography (of other races).
Taboos
Nudity, Intimate physical contact.
Family
There is no marriage. Lineage is traced through the single parent (generally referred to as father to son).
Magic
Mainly focused on the creation of magical objects. Magic is quite unusual among dwarves, arcane magic doubly so. Sorcerers are almost unknown, wizards tend to approach magic through alchemy and smithcraft. Clerics are more common, and often lead dwarf communities. Many senior dwarf warriors take up the Divine Crusader prestige class with the War domain, using this magic to craft mighty arms and armor.
Pantheon
Moradin is the creator of the dwarves and their main god; all others are comparatively minor next to him.
