Science Fiction Gadgets

Currency Emulator

Trench coat

This is basically an advanced adaptive copier. Put any paper currency in the “in” slot, and the machine will pour wads of it out the other end. The emulated bills are of the same type, but different in terms of wear, serial numbers et al. It is impossible for a casual observer to tell an emulated bill from the real thing.

Electronic Lock Pick

Pocket

An expert system capable of jimmying most simple locks: it picks locks with an Intrusion of 10. The relatively low proficiency of the system is because hi-tech locks have electronic countermeasures as standard, while the database has only limited information on the copious variety of low-tech locks.

Holofield

Pocket

This box-like device, often mounted in a belt buckle, creates a holographic image around the user, totally altering his appearance. This is only a visual illusion, however. Senses other than sight, as well as many sensors, see right through the illusion. The holofield must be programmed with the movement patterns and mannerisms of a new user, this takes about an hour. It can easily mimic any desired clothing.

A variant of the holofield, known as the Electra Holosuit, only projects clothing, allowing your clothes to change over time, or the thrill f going to a party stark naked.

Internal Locator

Jacket

A gyro compass connected to a sophisticated computer that keeps track of movement. Whit this gimmick, you can always tell how far you have traveled from the point of origin, as well as retrace your exact steps.

LoLite Glasses

Pocket, Slick

LoLite are lightweight night-vision equipment hidden in a pair of glasses. They are an electronic light amplification system. During the darkest night, the LoLite will give the impression of twilight, extending the range of vision to 150 meters. This is an hi-tech variant of the Nitefinder goggles.

Optical Helmet

Unconcealable

A HUD display visor coupled to a very advanced tactical computer. By observing a target for a shot and letting the computer to analyze it's movement, the Optical Helmet can give an aiming bonus of +1. This is cumulative with normal aiming for guns, increasing the aiming bonus to +2 per shot. The maximum time of observation is still three shots. It also works for Martial Arts attacks.

If the target acts outside the parameters of the computer's program, any bonus accumulated is negated. The computer cannot calculate the effects of supernatural powers, so anyone using Sorcery, Fu or Creature Powers negates the bonus.

Personal Radar Vest

Jacket

A lightweight vest that can be worn under a coat or sweater (but over armor), the radar vest has amazing detection capabilities. It works by a complex combination of radar, sonar and seismic sensors, and can detect moving objects out to 200 meters. Inside 20 meters, it can detect movements even through concrete walls. Information is displayed on a handheld or wrist-mounted screen, but can be fed to an Optical Helmet or other HUD device.

In situations where t is applicable, the user can use Fix-It instead of Perception to detect movement. Inexperienced users often get bewildered by the mass of information produced by the radar vest.

Automated Medikit

Pocket

A medical expert system and drug dispersal unit. Attach it to a wounded area, and it will suture the wound, inject appropriate drugs and warn if the wound becomes infected. In game terms, it allows anyone to use the Medicine skill unskilled to restore Wound Points and remove toxins.
