Ancient Gadget Weapons

Blinding Egg

Pocket Slick

A small, impact-sensitive container (an eggshell) which holds an irritating chemical mixture. The egg may be delivered by throwing it or directly thrust into a victim's face by a Martial Arts attack.

The victim loses a number of shots equal to the attack outcome, and is blinded for the rest of the sequence, with half Move and two points of impairment, with a further two-point penalty on all ranged actions.

Blowgun, Folding (Fukidake)

Jacket, Slick

The Fukidake is measured in"Lengths"of 1' each. A number of segments equal to your Strength may be fitted together and used. The Fukidake may be used to blow poisoned darts at a victim, or to disperse powdered drugs over an area, with a range equal to the 2 meters times the number of sections. It takes three shots to put together two sections of blowpipe. Damage from the darts is equal to the number of sections used. The main use of this weapon is to deliver poisons. Only lengths of 4' or more, or poisoned darts, can be used to take out unnamed characters.

Lengths may also be used as snorkels, permitting unlimited underwater activity as long as the Ninja remains no deeper under the surface than the length of his blowgun.

Parabolic Sun Mirror

Unconcealable

This is a large metal parabola, usually made of brass. It works by reflecting and concentrating sunlight.

The device is fired using Fix-It or Guns, and the damage depends on the size of the mirror and the sunlight intensity. A one-meter-diameter mirror will cause damage 10 on a clear day, and damage increases by one for each meter of diameter. Huge mirrors are used to burn ships and siege engines. Because it is a gimmick weapon, it can be used with either Guns or Fix-It skill.

Spray Gun

Trenchcoat

The Ninja spray gun resembles a thick, bamboo tube, with a narrow nozzle at one end and a plunger at the other. It may be loaded with a powder or liquid such as an irritant, a poison or an acid. It requires 3 shots to load a spray Gun. Because it is a gimmick weapon, it can be used with either Guns or Fix-It skill.

An acid does damage equal to the user's Fix-It, but any kind of clothing will reduce this by five. If the damage inflicted exceeds the target's Fix-It skill, some of his gear will be damaged.

A foe hit with the irritant will be temporarily blinded and subject to a fit of sneezing and choking. The victim loses a number of shots equal to the attack outcome, and is blinded for the rest of the sequence, with half Move and two points of impairment, with a further two-point penalty on all ranged actions.
