Ancient Vehicles
Buggy 5/9Even before there were stirrups so you could ride effectively, there were chariots and buggys. This is a small, two-wheeled cart drawn by one a single horse. Chariot 5/12The tank of ancient times. Scythed Chariot 4/12This chariot has scythes on the wheels that gives it a +3 bonus to Toughness when ramming. Sailing VesselsAll of these have vulnerable sails or oars; attacks can be directed against the rigging rather than the ship itself. A weapon designed to destroy sails (such as a cannon firing chainshot) gets a +5 bonus to damage against the rigging. A damaging hit reduces Pep instead of Toughness, Toughness is only reduced if the damage was twice Toughness. A rigging attack can never sink a ship. Sailing ships are almost helpless (Pep 1) when becalmed. Galley (4/13)A rowing warship, thus independent of the wind (except that it cannot stand up to a storm). In addition to other weaponry, it can ram for Toughness +5 damage. Catamaran (6/10)Perfected in modern times, ancient catamarans can be made in a pulp stone age or pacific islands campaign. Carrying a crew of three or so, the catamaran is fragile but very, very fast. (Poor) Merchantman (3/15)A small merchantan, whether european or chinese, can expect this performance. It carries a lot of passengers and cargo, but because it lacks interior compartments, it is relatively easy to sink. (Rich, or Working Stiff and a loan if it's your job) Launch (5/13)A small sailing vessel, that can be rowed in an emergency (Pep 3). A vessel of this size takes ten to fifteen people, more if you squeeze them in, and is reasonably seaworthy. (Working Stiff)
