Ceramic Fuel-Tank Armor |

Tired of those pesky magnesium rounds ruining your brand new paint job? Well, we here at Venus Arms are here to help. Our cracked scientists have developed a ceramic sheathing which when applied to your fuel tanks keeps the flames away from your gas. Game MechanicsThis item is very limited in its' effect. Ceramic armor must be purchased separately for each fuel tank location to be protected, and weighs 100 pounds per tank; it does not take up space on the damage chart. The protection provided applies only to the 'burn' damage of a magnesium round -- 'impact' damage of any caliber or type is unaffected. If your next hit in that column would go into your fuel tank and a magnesium round hits it, it's 'Bye Bye, Bucko'. Ceramic armor also does not flex during maneuvering; as the airframe flexes the armor develops cracks which may allow a 'burn thru'. When a magnesium round would burn into a fuel tank protected by ceramic armor, roll a d10 against a target number of the highest maneuver G rating attempted so far; as always, a '1' is an automatic failure. Success means the burn effect in that column is stopped completely -- ignore any remaining burn time for that particular hit in that column. Failure means... well, we here at Venus Arms don't like to dwell on thoughts of failure. Example: Navaho Nation pilot Sitting Duck has recently fitted his aircraft with ceramic fuel tank armor, and is engaged it combat. On turn 4 a 30 caliber magnesium round hits the port wing, and will burn until turn 7; unfortunately, it will burn into the fuel tank on turn 6. At the end of turn 6, when continuing damage is resolved a check is made to see if the ceramic armor works. The most difficult maneuver Sitting Duck has attempted so far was 4Gs, so he must roll a 4 or better. He gets a 5, so the burn is stopped completely -- there will be no roll required on turn 7. If it had been a higher caliber that hit, he would roll once for each column that might burn into the fuel tank. Later, another magnesium round hits in the same spot and penetrates the tank (no roll required). *BOOM* So remember, when you need something special come to Venus Arms. We will always stand by our promise never to laugh at you, or refuse to take your money.
