Background

Originally from Muluk, Zarastro travelled widely all over the world in his youth, and even studied magic in Alphatia. He remained true to his water magery, however, and returned to Muluk to marry. He lived in Sakina Falls with his wife, who gave him three daughters. His wife was murdered by the Flamedeath fellowship, and he withdrew with his three young daughters and marid slaves to the island north of Muluk that now bears his name.

During his adventures, he was patient and careful, always trying to find out and serve the will of Fate in all things. It is said that he felt betrayed by Fate when his wife died, and turned to sinister magics on his lonely isle, but nothing is known for sure.

He bought Effinidih when she was but a girl, and raised her as a slave maid and apprentice, along with his three daughters and his pet noble marid, Farahsti.
