Background

The old man of the desert is the most famous civilizing influence among the gnolls, a great imam that travells the High Desert and Akota, trying to enlighten his brethern to enlightened ways. Originally a slave from Tajar, he was given to the temple of Hajama as a temple servant when he fell ill, and when he recovered he considered himself Ôreborn' and become an ethoist priest. His credo is stern and violent, and he interprets the phrase ' your mouth to spread the truth' as an invitation to bite his religious opponents, but he is still a great imam, if somewhat rude.
