Unofficial rules compendium

A youxia is a heroic champion of freedom and the oppressed. Speaking up for the downtrodden, and taking up arms when words fail, a youxia rebels against oppressive law. In times of harmony and freedom, the youxia can practice almost any profession, from noble or official to humble craftsmen and farmers. Many work as bodyguards, caravan guards, messengers, or explorers.

Class Information

This is a martial arts archetype.

Class: Unchained monk.

Alignment: Neutral good, neutral, chaotic good, or chaotic neutral only.

Hit Die: d10.

Class Features

The youxia has all the monks class features, except as follows.

Martial Flexibility (Ex)

At 1st level, a youxia gains a ki pool equal to his class level + his Wisdom modifier He can take a move action to gain the benefit of a combat feat he doesn’t possess. This effect lasts for 1 minute. The youxia must meet all the feat’s prerequisites. Each individual feat or ki power selected costs one point from the youxia's ki pool.

The youxia can use this ability again before the duration expires in order to replace the previous combat feat with another choice.

If a combat feat has a daily use limitation (such as Stunning Fist), any uses of that combat feat while using this ability count toward that feat’s daily limit.

At 4th level, a youxia can select one ki power he fulfills the prerequisites for instead of a combat feat. He can only ever gain one additional ki power this way, even at higher level when he can gain multiple combat feats. The ki cost of using this power is in addition to the ki point cost of martial flexibility.

At 8th level, a youxia can use this ability to gain the benefit of two combat feats at the same time. He may select one feat as a swift action or two feats as a move action. He may use one of these feats to meet a prerequisite of the second feat; doing so means that he cannot replace a feat currently fulfilling another’s prerequisite without also replacing those feats that require it.

At 12th level, a youxia can use this ability to gain the benefit of three combat feats at the same time. He may select one feat as a free action, two feats as a swift action, or three feats as a move action. He may use one of the feats to meet a prerequisite of the second and third feats, and use the second feat to meet a prerequisite of the third feat.

At 16th level, a youxia can use this ability to gain the benefit of one combat feat as an immediate action or three combat feats as a swift action.

At 20th level, a youxia can use this ability to gain the benefit of any number of combat feats as a swift action.

This replaces stunning fist and modifies the amount of ki points gained from ki pool.

Pursuit of Style

A yuxia has a different selection of bonus feats. He can choose any style feat or Dodge, Gliding StepsUM, Improved SidestepAPG, Just out of Reach*, Landing RollUC, Mobility, Nimble Moves, SidestepAPG, or Spring Attack. He must fulfill the prerequisites of these bonus feats. This modifies the monk's bonus feats.

Ki Powers (Su)

Two new ki powers, one available to any monk and one available only to youxia.

Ki Weapon (Su): The monk attunes himself to a melee weapon that he is proficient in. He can use this weapon as if it was a monk weapon, and he can chose do his unarmed strike damage with the weapon if this is better than the weapons normal damage (the type of damage does not change). The attuned weapon benefits from the ki pool ability. Attuning a weapon is a move action that costs 2 points from the youxia's ki pool and lasts until the monk next recovers ki points. Any monk can learn this ki power.

Improvised Ki Weapon (Su): The youxia attunes himself to a melee weapon. He gains proficiency in this weapon and gains all the benefits of the ki weapon ki power when using this weapon. Attuning a weapon is a move action that costs 1 point from the youxia's ki pool and lasts for one minute. This ki power is only available to a youxia of level 8 or greater.

Woodland Stride (Ex)

Starting at 4th level, a youxia may move through any sort of undergrowth (such as natural thorns, briars, overgrown areas, and similar terrain) at his normal speed and without taking damage or suffering any other impairment. Thorns, briars, and overgrown areas that have been magically manipulated to impede motion, however, still affect him. This is the same as the druid ability of the same name and replaces still mind.

Ki Pool (su)

At 10th level, the unarmed strikes of a youxia treated as aligned damage for the purpose of penetrating damage reduction, with an alignment type depending on his alignment. The unarmed attacks of a youxia of chaotic alignment is treated as a chaotic weapon. The unarmed attacks of a youxia of good alignment is treated as a good weapon. This modifies the ki pool ability.

Perfect Self

When using perfect self, the youxia gains damage reduction 10/lawful instead of the normal damage reduction gained with this ability.

Ex Monks

An ex-monk that fulfills the alignment prerequisite can become youxia after a month of meditation and training.

Ex-Youxia

A youxia that changes to a non-allowed alignment loses all abilities gained from the archetypes and does not regain the abilities he gave up. After a month of retraining, he can become a standard monk or take up another monk archetype as long as his current alignment allows him to.
