Magic Items

Never so prolific as in fantasy campaigns, there are nonetheless some magical items in Wings of Honor. These are often very powerful, Indiana Jones-type items that disappear at the end of the scenario, but some can actually stay in the campaign.

The Elder Sign

An Elder Sign is a symbol of the Elder Gods, a vaguely star-shaped geometric image with the power to direct and amplify psychic powers and ward of minions and servants of the Great Old Ones and Outer Gods. It has some power over the Great Old Ones, but is powerless against the Outer Gods themselves

Anyone in possession of an Elder Sign can use the Summoning effect Ward Creature, using his Magic attribute in place of Sorcery and without demanding a continuous action. This is not terribly efficient, but usually insures you are the last victim chosen. He can also offer Magic points to help another sorcerer using Summoning against mythos creatures (including another using an Elder Sign).

Many Warding effects use the Elder Sign as their mechanism, but this is not the same as the magical item Elder Sign, and usually much more powerful than the basic glyph itself. It is rather easy for a sorcerer who knows summoning to create a lasting Elder Sign.

The Armor of Bintanaseth

Made out of hardened gold (a technique lost to modern science) and reinforced with magical wards, this set of armor was made very precisely for the pharaoh Bintanaseth, of the 13:th dynasty. Only she, or her reincarnation, can wear it.

It consists of an egyptian enamel collar, a gold stomach-plate, a heart-shaped crotch guard plus greaves and vambraces, all made of rather thin (but still heavy) gold plate. All is heavily decorated in egyptian style. It is quite indecent, as there is no breastplate, and the wearers breasts jut out between the collar and stomach-plate. It is impossible to wear under clothing, and only the sheerest silk can be worn under it.

Despite it's great value, it will rarely be stolen; such an item must obviously be paste jewelry, and the gold doesn't have the right 'ring' and consistency unless first melted down.

It offers two points of protection with no penalties. This protection cannot be circumvented by magical or mystic means (though Eagle Eye still works). It also incorporates the protection of an Elder Sign while worn.
