Magical Beasts are partly animals. They can be affected by animal-specific powers and abilities, but receive a +4 bonus to any saving throws against such abilities, and the DC of any such ability is increased by four.

Magical Beasts with an Intelligence of 3 or more can speak, tough it takes an Intelligence of 5 to have real conversations. (This applies to all familiars.)
