A force weapon is attuned to the user's life force, and can tap into that force to become more powerful. By spending an Magic point, you can get an extra bonus die on an attack with a force weapon.
Any melee weapon of Clockwork sophistication or less can be made into a force weapon.
Force weapons are exceptional enough to cost an Items schtick.
